Why government law colleges are worth the fight
A government law seat is the best deal in Pakistani legal education: fees a fraction of private colleges, degrees that carry serious weight in the judiciary, and alumni networks that run deep into courts and bar councils. The catch is merit. Public seats are limited and every topper in the country is applying, so the difference between a government seat and a private-college fee plan often comes down to your LAT score.
Important: fees and merit figures below are indicative and change every year — always confirm on the university's official admissions page or prospectus before applying. LAT remains mandatory for LLB admission at every institution on this list.

How to read this list strategically
Aim high, but apply wide
Most students apply only to the famous names — PULC, QAU, Karachi — and skip excellent regional public colleges with far friendlier merit. If your aggregate is in the 60s, a public college in Balochistan, GB, AJK, or interior Sindh can give you the same LLB degree for even lower fees.
LAT is your lever
Public universities typically use a formula like 70% academics / 30% LAT (check each university's prospectus — formulas differ). Because academics are mostly fixed by your FSc result, LAT is the one number you can still change. Every extra 5 marks in LAT can move your aggregate by 1.5% — often the exact gap between making merit and missing it.
Verify affiliation, not just the name
A "government law college" should be part of — or clearly affiliated with — a recognized public university, and its LLB program must be recognized by the Pakistan Bar Council. When in doubt, check the PBC's list of recognized institutions before paying any fee.
